The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) International PhD/Postdoctoral Scholarship (HIPS) 2024 is now open for application. HIPS aims to encourage outstanding Singapore citizens to pursue an academic career in HASS by supporting their doctoral studies or postdoctoral fellowship abroad.
Under HIPS, the successful candidates will be employed as University staff. They will be granted paid leave to pursue a sponsored PhD or postdoctoral programme in an approved overseas university. Upon successful completion of the programme, they will be appointed as tenure-track Assistant Professors of the University.
Candidates with research interests in any humanities, arts, and social sciences disciplines with good academic credentials, strong research proposals, and have demonstrated scholarly potential, will be reviewed favourably.
Full information on the programme is available here.
If you are interested in the PhD scholarship, you should have seriously explored your further studies options and actually applied to top postgraduate schools by the time you are shortlisted for first round of interviews around February 2024. You are not required to have received admission offers when you submit your HIPS application, but your choice of universities and actual applications will contribute to the evaluation process. When you start to receive admission offers from various universities around February / March 2024, you can then update the HIPS Office progressively.
The application deadline is on 31 December 2023. The Evaluation Committee will only start reviewing applications after the closing date.
Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to consult faculty members / faculty advisors on their research proposals and application dossiers.
All application documents are available on HIPS 2024 webpage, which can be assessed from the College website homepage https://www.ntu.edu.sg/hass or directly at ntu.sg/hass-hips2024.
Interested applicants are to read through HIPS 2024 webpage, complete the application form, include all supporting documents, and send their applications via NTU Workday at ntu.sg/hass-applyhips2024.
All late and / or incomplete applications will not be considered. A check list is included in the application package.
