Strategic Procurement Manager

Job Description:The Strategic Procurement Manager will play a pivotal role in optimizing the procurement processes within the oil and gas project. Responsible for developing and implementing strategic procurement initiatives to ensure cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. The incumbent will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and finance professionals, to identify procurement needs and develop sourcing strategies that align with project goals. Additionally, the Strategic Procurement Manager will oversee supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality goods and services. Strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and a deep understanding of the oil and gas industry supply chain are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement strategic procurement plans that support project objectives and budgetary constraints.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify procurement needs and establish sourcing strategies for equipment, materials, and services.
  3. Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, and negotiate favorable terms and pricing agreements.
  4. Manage supplier relationships and performance, including conducting supplier evaluations and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  5. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards throughout the procurement process.
  6. Lead contract negotiations and establish agreements that mitigate risks and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
  7. Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  8. Develop and maintain procurement-related documentation, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier agreements.
  9. Provide leadership and mentorship to procurement staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  10. Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to track procurement expenses, analyze spending patterns, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a strategic procurement role within the oil and gas industry.
  3. Deep understanding of the oil and gas industry supply chain, including knowledge of equipment, materials, and service providers.
  4. Proven track record of developing and implementing strategic procurement initiatives that drive cost savings and operational efficiency.
  5. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  6. Excellent analytical abilities, with experience in conducting market research, analyzing supplier capabilities, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  7. Proficiency in contract management, including drafting and negotiating agreements, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  8. Experience with procurement software and tools, such as ERP systems, e-procurement platforms, and spend analysis tools.
  9. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functional teams.
  10. Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) are a plus.
