Job Description
The Research Assistant (Research Admin) will provide administrative support to the research team, primarily focusing on finance assistance, database maintenance, event organization, and management of the laboratory website and public platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn. The incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of research activities and promoting the research group's visibility and engagement on various online platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Assistance:
- Assist in budget tracking for research projects.
- Process financial transactions, including reimbursements, invoices, and purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare regular reports for budget monitoring.
Database Maintenance:
- Develop and maintain databases to organize research-related information, including project data, publications, sample inventory.
- Ensure data integrity and security by implementing appropriate protocols and backups.
- Provide support to research staff in accessing and retrieving data from databases as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Event Organization:
- Coordinate logistics for research-related events, including seminars, conferences, workshops, and meetings.
- Assist in event planning, event website updating, venue booking, participant registration, and catering arrangements.
- Prepare event materials such as agendas, presentations, and promotional materials.
Lab Website and Public Platform Management:
- Manage and update content on the laboratory website to reflect current research activities, publications, and team members.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the visibility of the research group on social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
- Monitor and respond to inquiries and comments on social media platforms to engage with the research community and the public effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as advertising, information technology, or communications.
- Prior experience in administrative or customer service support roles.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in database management software (e.g., Microsoft Access) and financial management tools (e.g., Excel).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English and Chinese, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with website management platforms, and social media management tools is desirable.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for creating and editing graphics and research publication materials.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial transactions.
