Creative Design Lead

As a lead in an in-house team, you will collaborate with heads and leads across multiple departments to develop strategic and creative solutions for brand, content and acquisition marketing. You will work especially close with the Head of Marketing and market leads to develop brand narratives, plan and execute multiple paid and organic campaigns. You will also work closely with the Product Design Lead to implement our visual brand and evolve our brand experience across multiple touchpoints. You will also be supported by the MoneySmart Marketplace design team consisting of animators, illustrators and communication designers for the production of creatives for MoneySmart.

Responsibilities

As a Creative Design Lead, you'll direct our design team, ensuring consistent, high-quality deliverables for digital and offline branding, including videos, social media, and more. Your role involves evolving our brand through data-driven methods and requires expertise in digital marketing design, visual branding, and communication design, coupled with creativity and a collaborative spirit.

Creative Strategy and Direction

  • You don’t need to be a personal finance guru, but as you grow with us we expect you to gain an understanding of personal finance to help our visitors through your visual and creative strategies.
  • You will play a key role in growing and differentiating our visual brand over time with a data-driven approach to brand and marketing design testing.
  • You will lead brand creative direction for marketing and product experience, supported by the MoneySmart marketplace design team.
  • Set and uphold creative standards for the design team by building and updating a brand design playbook.
  • As a master storyteller, you will lead the marketing design team to satisfy and balance business and customer objectives. You should feel comfortable bringing brand initiatives and campaigns to life through cross-functional brainstorms and creative leadership.

Production and Collaboration

  • You may be required to be hands-on with creative production, but also depending on how well you manage your team’s resources.
  • As a gatekeeper for the brand's visual design, you will be ultimately responsible for the consistency, quality and on-time delivery of work by the design team in keeping with our brand narrative.
  • Foster a highly-collaborative partnership between the design team and other functions such as Marketing, Commercial and Product Experience to achieve great creative processes, solutions and outcomes.

Leading the Design Team

  • Grow, lead and mentor a team of multi-disciplinary designers to implement our visual brand narrative across all product experience and marketing touchpoints.
  • Ensure that the team is always well resourced to service the needs of the business.
  • Build a culture of collaboration, curiosity and design advocacy in the design team and across other departments.

Competencies

  • Customer-obsessed and a trendspotter, you must have a good understanding of the local market to apply creative strategies across multiple new and foreign markets
  • Strong creative leader unafraid to get their hands dirty in a fast-paced environment and hold others and yourself accountable for quality.
  • Strategic thinker, able to create and communicate clear design strategies that form fertile grounds for scalable yet cohesive design ideas.
  • Possess excellent visual design skills with a deep understanding of design fundamentals and theory.
  • Ability to articulate design decisions and rationalize every design decision made in adherence to the MoneySmart brand.
  • You must be comfortable working in multichannel formats, predominantly digital channels.
  • A strong people leader who can inspire, coach, develop and grow creative teams

Requirements

  • Min 4+ years experience in creative and brand design, and 1 year in people leadership.
  • Strong visual portfolio documenting executed campaigns from concept to delivery.
  • Bachelor’s degree holder of Design, Fine Art or any other related field
  • Experience managing traditional and digital advertising and marketing campaigns from conception to execution
  • Significant agency, in-house or contract-based experience leading a creative team of designers/animators/illustrators.
  • Design advocate who finds beauty in dynamic design, and punchy storytelling.
  • Curious designer with a hunger for knowledge, unafraid to ask questions and strive for continuous learning and personal improvement.
