JOB PURPOSE
To assist the Project Manager in design, project planning, construction and safety and quality management of projects and maintenance works to ensure smooth work progression and completion within target time and budget.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Design
- Assist in conducting design phase engineering calculations and estimates
- Collects consolidate and interprets all project-related information into the new project design.
- Assist in preparing of method statement by reading, interpreting, reviewing, analyzing and synthesizing process, engineering drawings and information.
- Assist to identify, analyze and recommend alternatives to engineering design.
- Assist to perform design work, plans, specifications and cost estimates.
- Assist to perform field inspections
On-Site Project Planning
- Assist in creating projected milestones and operational plans for different phases of assigned projects which includes scheduling, monitoring and reviewing of the work of others, including contractors.
- Assist to prepare and interpret engineering plans and specifications and communicating technical requirements to contractors.
- Support in conducting on-site engineering studies, including gathering pertinent data, analyzing alternatives and performing related calculations.
- Assist in determining project requirements and estimates resources by allocating correct resources such as manpower, materials and equipment.
- Assist in managing job costing in preparation through Bill of Quantities and quotation.
- Provides input into the preparation of contracts and participates in the revisions of contractual agreements with all stakeholders (e.g. architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors).
- Assist in the implementation of the following plans and documents provided: Job Safety Analysis, Method Statement, Lifting Plans, Ventilation Plan, Rescue Plan, Mobilization & Demobilization Plan, Floor Plan, Road Closure and Re-routing Plan and Environmental Plan.
Construction
- Assist in ensuring that end-to-end site works execution is carried out accordingly based on approved detailed drawings, interpreted plans and requirements of relevant authorities.
- Assist in ensuring project execution and budget are maintained and delivered in a timely manner.
- Support in research, development and prepare recommendations for alternative engineering solutions and selects, modifies or adapts standards, techniques and procedures in assigned functional areas.
- Support contract administration and construction inspections for moderately complex projects, including reviewing final plans, specifications, special conditions and agreements.
Safety & Quality
- Work under the advice of the Safety Officer to adhere to compliance and safety requirements with regulatory and industry standards and requirements during the construction phase..
- Assist in conducting site measurements and inspections to determine the actual scope of services, type of construction material, specifications and other technical requirements.
- Assist in monitoring and conducting an inspection of the quality and workmanship of the sub-contractors the work process phase and completion phase of projects with clients.
Qualifications
- Recognised Degree in Civil Engineering by Singapore PE Board
- Construction Safety Course for Supervisors
Experiences
- At least 5 years relevant experience gained from a Civil/Marine construction industry
- Project experiences with public infrastructure projects with PUB and LTA on canal improvement works, road works, drainage, flyover, water treatment plant construction are preferred
