Summary of duties
- Under the direct supervision of the Chief Engineer & Director of Engineering.
- Responsible for the proper maintenance of the physical plant, engineering facilities, and interior & exterior of the entire hotel. Directs the engineering policies in accordance with the standards laid down.
- Directly supervises the Duty Engineers, M&E Engineer, and B&D Engineer.
Major responsibilities
- Directs & coordinates the work of the hotel engineering department.
- Delegates authority to personnel under his direction to carry out their responsibilities and objectives to ensure the correct functions of the physical plant and the smooth running of the department.
- Recommends to the Chief Engineer / Director of Engineer changes in existing plants/services and/or the installation of new plant that will result in saving energy.
- He should be in a position at all times to relieve the Chief Engineer / Director of Engineering of his duties in the event of illness or vacation.
- Ensures that the Engineering policies are implemented and adhered to.
Daily duties
- Conduct daily briefing.
- Check on daily engineering logs to ensure that complaints/defective equipment are follow-up.
- Job delegation to duty engineers and technicians.
- Ensure the Prime Preventive Maintenance schedule is updated.
- Supervise and coordinate contractors for in-house equipment servicing/repair.
- Ensure all the shift duty personnel are conducting daily maintenance checklists.
Periodic duties
- Analyses and prepares, on a monthly basis, the heat, light & power consumption figures for submission to the Chief Engineer.
- Provides input and assists the Chief Engineer / Director of Engineering in preparing the annual repairs and maintenance and heat, light & power budgets.
- To attend meetings as directed by the Chief Engineer / Director of Engineering.
Occasional duties
- Develop maintenance engineering records to determine inspection and repairs for all equipment.
- Establish and supervise the Prime Preventive Maintenance program.
- Develop an engineering organization to operate efficiently.
- Establish a training program for all staff.
- Maintain and control all M&E drawings, specifications and equipment manuals.
