China Gas International Pte Ltd is the international trading center established by China Gas Holdings Limited in Singapore, in charge of the international trading of mainly LNG and LPG, with the potential to expand to other energy and chemical commodities.
Overview Of Role
Being part of our legal team at the Singapore office, the Legal & Compliance Manager is responsible for reviewing trade contracts for both physical and paper goods, as well as other related documents; overseeing the company's daily compliance management; performing corporate secretarial functions; taking charge of seal management and providing legal support for business activities, etc. The position requires solid knowledge and experience in corporate laws and international trade laws, regulations and general practices to ensure the company's legal compliance in conducting businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Management - Responsible for establishing and managing the contract process, reviewing, drafting, and managing the company's contracts for both physical and paper trades including ISDA, ensuring that contract terms/clauses comply with trade regulations and align with the company’s interests.
- Compliance Management - Track and monitor local and international trade regulations/policies/rules, ensure the compliance of the company's business activities, and provide legal advice to stakeholders and business units.
- Secretary Functions - Maintain and update the company's profile with ACRA, ensure the safe custody and compliant use of the company seal/stamp, submit and file necessary documents required by the government authorities, and ensure that the company fulfills its legal obligations.
- Risk Management - Evaluate and manage the company’s legal and compliance risks whilst maintaining a competitive business environment. Anticipate, identify, and solve legal problems from day-to-day activities.
- Relationship Management - Work closely with other teams in Singapore office, the legal team at headquarters, external stakeholders and government agencies to establish and maintain a positive relationship for the company.
- Team Collaboration - Collaborate with other teams, especially the trading and finance team, to implement policies and procedures related to corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and business operations.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years practical legal experience in the international trade market, with a proven track record and industry background.
- Familiar with international trade laws, rules and regulations, especially relates to physical and paper commodity trading.
- Deep understanding on the legal system of Singapore.
- Experience in corporate, transactional and corporate secretarial work.
- Knowledge of commodity trading is a plus.
Skills and Attributes
- Possesses a Degree in Law or its equivalent.
- Proven legal experience in a law firm or corporate setting.
- Excellent contract management and negotiation skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude. Strong analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound legal judgment.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills in English.
- Candidates with Mandarin speaking and writing skills are preferred.
