The Design Manager will be part of the senior management team to drive the design and engineering deliverables on the projects. This role requires a knowledge of all disciplines and in-depth experience in multidiscipline coordination for construction Projects. This Role also provides a unique opportunity for the candidate to get involved in the technical side of work winning and will involve collaboration with other senior technical managers in the architectural and structural departments.
Reporting to the Head of Architecture, BIM & Innovation, you will be responsible for:
Responsibilities
- Oversee all design approvals with contractors and consultants
- Ensure that the designs are in accordance with the industry standards, compliance and contractual requirements
- Manage design development within the project team and external stakeholders
- Review and identify potential risk and/or technical issues
- Provide technical input, support and solutions to design issues to operation team and identify any potential risk or discrepancy on the design
- Review documented technical requirements and project plan to ensure adherence to defined standards.
- Confident to present on the M&E components in a tender submission presentation
- Involve in technical discussions with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers
- Manage the design deliverables – work package design submission, drawing & material submission
- Ensure that the overall design progress is in line with the programme
- Input into buildability and value engineering proposals
- Oversee and Develop design coordinators to manage independently
- Review designs with Design for Safety (DfS) & Design for Maintainability (DfM).
Requirements
- Degree in Architecture, recognized by the Board of Architects or PEB
- At least 10 years’ experience in the construction industry
- Highly motivated, self-driven with initiatives to work independently
- Meticulous, eye for details and a good team player
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Mindset to work in a digital environment.
- Approach with a Design for safety mindset.
- Proficient in project management and understanding of architectural, structural & MEP trades
- An awareness of sustainability initiatives in construction.
