Key accountability
To assist the In-House Counsel with (a) safeguarding the rights and limiting the liabilities/risks of the organisation; and (b) ensuring the organisation’s internal policies are complied with, through:
- contract review and drafting;
- preparing/managing inter-company agreements and corporate secretarial documents;
- providing business-enabling advice, based on sound legal principles;
- management of contracts database; and
- liaising with the various business units within the organisation or with external vendors/partners to ensure ongoing projects/work progress are completed on time.
Key expectations of the successful candidate
The successful candidate is expected:
- to be professional, honest and motivated;
- to be willing to learn and do some administrative work;
- to be able to clearly write/articulate/express opinions and advice;
- to have experience and sound knowledge in contract (such as lease agreements, NDAs and commercial contracts) review and drafting. Having experience in direct contractual negotiation, whether internal or external, is a bonus;
- to have at least basic knowledge of the laws relating to personal data, consumer rights, intellectual property and anti-competition in Singapore. Having regional exposure, experience or knowledge in these areas of the law is a bonus. Having knowledge of the workings of local arbitration laws or international arbitration treaties is also a bonus;
- to be interested in the retail industry in general (preferably in fashion, sports and health foods). Having knowledge of the basic workings of the retail industry is a bonus (for example, payment flows between consumer-platform-merchant or logistics/warehousing arrangements/priorities);
- to be able to work independently and under the pressure of time; and
- to have the initiative to follow-up on the progress of any ongoing projects/work.
These expectations shall form the KPI of the successful candidate.
