About the Job
- The role requires a strong demonstration of key skills including planning, customer focus, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. You'll be responsible for the following: Developing modular hardware designs, creating detailed mechanical concepts, and conducting engineering analyses on components and sub-assemblies.
- Proactively identifying and resolving technical risks, ensuring design quality throughout product development, and adhering to established timelines are essential aspects of the role.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing and manufacturing to define customer needs, drive product specifications, and support manufacturing processes.
- Engaging in advanced mechanical engineering principles to address complex challenges and mentoring junior engineers will also be part of your responsibilities.
Skills & Experiences Required
You will need min bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in mechanical design, focusing on product development from conceptualization to mass production.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles and practices.
- Hands-on experience designing complex mechanisms including clutches, gear trains, cams, and linkages.
- Proficiency in designing electro-mechanical components such as motors, power transmission, and sensors.
- Expertise in designing various components including plastic, sheet metal, die-cast parts, rubber, electro-mechanical, and mechanism assemblies.
- Fluent in SolidWorks CAD software and/or FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
- Sound understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
- Competence with analytical techniques such as Design for Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Pugh Matrix is advantageous.
