As the Operations Team Lead Panamax, Asia your primary responsibility will be to find the right balance between being an empathic leader for your team, facilitating and supporting collaboration in a multinational environment, while having a strong business understanding and connection to the business, supporting all business units across our 14 offices worldwide.
The position as our future Operations Team Lead Panamax, Asia will be located in our office in Singapore.

At NORDEN we are critically dependent on the operations team, the team’s internal processes and procedures, and the continuous development aligned with the rest of our business in a fast-moving environment. This role is central in NORDEN’s commitment and ambition to evolve and develop our business taking on a critical approach to our operational procedures and striving to become even better.
You will have 4 operators located in Singapore and 1 operator in Shanghai reporting directly to you. Besides this, you will be part of a well-established leadership team reporting to the Head of Dry Operation Asia.
Your core mission?
This role is not just about operations; it is about enabling our entire business to perform better through seamless operations and solutions.
Your key task is to foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing initiatives to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of Operations, while operating ships. To describe this further the main topics in this role will be:
- Employee responsibility. Prioritizing, respecting, and motivating your team encouraging them to follow procedures, and standards displaying good energy, empathy, flexibility, ambition and trust. Understanding the importance of developing the team daily, listening and providing constructive feedback and coaching at the right time. While handling operational leadership tasks like holiday planning, handovers and leave strategies.
- Operational community. Participating in meetings with overseas offices and coordinating procedures and processes to be implemented in Operations.
- Stakeholder management. Facilitating a good cooperation internally as well as towards external counterparts. Establishing positive relationships, ensuring you meet expectations.
- P&L management. Knowing your P&L’s. Each dollar matters and the general understanding of how we can spend our money are an important factor in understanding the overall cost structure.
- Overall business understanding. Understand the local business, internal and external processes and standards and see projects, changes, and challenges in the larger picture to enhance effectiveness and collaboration across.
