Contract Period: From 3 June 2024 to 31 May 2026.
Option to Extend: 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027.
Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 5:00pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
Fridays: 7:30am to 4:30pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
Job Purpose:
Primary responsibilities will include assisting teachers during practical lessons, maintaining kitchen equipment, ensuring cleanliness, and supporting overall kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Induction:
- Receive comprehensive training and induction by NFS teachers.
- Learn to operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as cookers, ovens, grills, and small appliances.
- Familiarize yourself with kitchen terms, utensils, and safety protocols.
- Assist in food preparation, portioning, and storage.
- Keep teachers informed of perishables and kitchen inventory needs.
Daily Duties:
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of kitchens before and after practical lessons and exams.
- Receive and organize food orders for teachers.
- Assist teachers in lesson preparation and execution.
- Clean and store food properly after lessons.
- Manage laundry for kitchen towels.
Weekly Duties:
- Conduct thorough cleaning of kitchen equipment and facilities.
- Clear and sanitize sinks, fridges, and storage areas.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks.
Holiday Duties:
- Prepare kitchens for term and term break holidays.
- Ensure all equipment is properly stored and cleaned.
- Conduct stock take and organize kitchen equipment.
- Dispose of expired items and damaged utensils.
- Assist with general office tasks during off-peak periods.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 'N' Level or equivalent.
- Proficiency in kitchen food preparation and equipment handling.
- Possession of Food Hygiene Certificate.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Kitchen Assistant in secondary schools.
- Physical ability to work on the 3rd level without access to lifts.
