Finance Director

The Finance Director oversees all aspects of financial management, performance management, financial accounting, budgeting, corporate reporting and corporate risk management.


He/she plays a key role in implementing best practices and work improvement projects to identify and manage all financial and business risks for the achievement of the Foundation’s strategic, transformation and operational objectives.


He/she is a strategic partner to the C-Suite and senior leadership, providing financial insights and analysis to guide business decisions.


Financial Leadership and Planning:


  • Develop and implement the Foundation’s financial strategy and goals.
  • Oversee financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
  • Manage treasury functions and administration of internal and external funds.
  • Analyze the Foundation’s financial performance, identify risks and opportunities and recommend solutions.
  • Develop strategies to secure capital, grants, and other sources of funds to support capital expenditure.
  • Manage enterprise risk management programs
  • Overseeing the Foundation’s tax strategy and manage taxation-related functions while ensuring ethical and professional approaches are in place to resolve any tax issues.
  • Manage internal/external audit activities and implement policies and procedures with emphasis on internal controls.
  • Manage mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities


Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Lead a professional team and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting according to accounting standards in compliance with statutory requirements of the Companies Act, Charities Act, and related regulations.
  • Manage timely submissions of utilisation reports for grants and projects.
  • Develop and manage management financial dashboard.
  • Prepare financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee internal controls and ensure compliance with financial regulations.


Management and Communication:


  • Lead and manage the finance department, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g. HR, IT/Tech, Programmes, Clinical Affairs, Operations) to ensure financial alignment with business goals.
  • Deliver sound advice to the business lines in managing risks, analysing current market trends, assessing government financing options and providing strategic input for sustainable value-creation within the various programmes and initiatives across the Foundation.
  • Communicate financial information clearly and concisely to executives, board members, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Implement financial technology systems to improve productivity, improve controls and performance while evaluating its effectiveness for continuous improvement.
  • Establish procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records to ensure adequate accounting and financial controls.
  • Represent the management team in Board and Board Committees meetings.

Relevant Qualifications and Experience


  • Minimum Degree in Accountancy or Finance, CPA preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in a financial management position with strong leadership.
  • Proficient in grant accounting, financing models, budgeting and enterprise risk management.
  • Preferably with experience in social services/non-profit sectors.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and financial regulations including understanding anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) policies and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proficient in financial modelling and forecasting techniques.
  • Able to lead and motivate a lean team of finance professionals with varied and in-depth knowledge and abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.


Salary range is indicative and will commensurate with qualification and experience.
