Brenntag, the world’s largest & leading full-line chemical distributor with a market cap of EUR11 billion is seeking a highly-motivated Regional Counsel to join its APAC Legal Team (Reporting to APAC Head of Legal) – YOU will play a crucial role in shaping the legal landscape of our organization regionally and YOU will be the go-to partner for all legal-related issues within your assigned countries and business units.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- To provide legal strategic support to cross-functional stakeholders in Asia-Pacific.

- Experience in corporate commercial and contract review and management work:
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts in local language and legal documents (both commercial and non-commercial). Candidates with experience in reviewing procurement and supply contracts and experience in dispute resolution are preferred;
- Working with the senior regional counsel on local and regional high value contracts; ensuring all contracts accurately reflect commercial decisions, and are in compliance with all applicable laws;
- Ensuring contracts are executed in compliance with company policies on internal corporate approvals;
- Appointing and liaising with external counsels to streamline non-tax litigations involving the Company and submitting quarterly reports on litigation status; and
- Familiarity with competition laws in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Providing legal advice relating to employment matters and be a trusted partner to the human resources department;
- Implementing Brenntag APAC legal and compliance policies and guidelines and conducting necessary trainings as instructed by the Brenntag APAC legal department;
- Enabling proper and coherent communication between regional legal and local commercial for alignment of goals and objectives;
- Providing support to and reporting to Brenntag APAC Head of Legal.
Job Requirement/Specification:
Education: Bachelor of Laws Degree (minimum) from a top-tier university. Overseas qualifications from a tier 1 university is a plus.
Qualifications: Holder of a valid Attorney/ Legal Practitioner License in a Common Law jurisdiction.
Language: Excellent command of the English. Ability to communicate in Mandarin is a plus.
Experiences / Requirements: At least 7 years of post-qualification experience, with solid training in private practice (dispute resolution and commercial law). In-house experience in an MNC is an added advantage;
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects under strict deadlines and ability to multi-task and handle highly confidential information;
- Ability to work independently without daily supervision;
- Solid technical competencies in general corporate and commercial law, contract law, intellectual property law, with excellent drafting skills;
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and willingness to learn;
- Diligent, meticulous, detail oriented, and analytical, with ability to exercise judgment to identify and escalate issues;
- Experienced in managing external corporate secretarial service providers and external counsel.
- Self-starter with strong project management, analytical and organizational skills;
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively work with various departments and business units within Brenntag;
- Commitment to high ethical standards with superb business acumen;
- Superior communication skills required with the ability to clearly and diplomatically articulate issues, solutions and rationale; and
- Strong personality with the ability to implement proper chain of approvals before signing of contracts.
