Job Description
Commissioning Control Room Operator shall be capable of performing the following tasks:
· Control the power-generation (GT / STG) and balance of plant equipment during initial system pre-commissioning and commissioning, unit and plant start up followed by total plant testing and reliability run prior to handover to the OWNER.
· Have a clear understanding of the operating characteristic such as Process Flow Diagrams and System Process descriptions and ensure plant is operating in accordance with these documents. Report any shortfall deviations to the Commissioning Manager
· Monitor system operating characteristic such as drum level control, desuperheater spray control etc. and request DCS engineer to tune as necessary to optimise plant operation.
· Monitor alarms and report to discipline commissioning engineer for investigation and where necessary shutdown for corrective action.
· Must be capable of taking controls out of auto and manually controlling the function should the DCS function fail due to component failure. Provide feedback to the DCS engineer on any control’s issues.
· Monitor site stack emissions and wastewater effluent at discharge are within the local environmental limits. Notify Commissioning Manager if plant is operating outside these limits.
· During an emergency shutdown shall ensure the plant shuts down safely and notify the commissioning manager of the shutdown and cause if known.
· Maintain the Control Room Log up to date of all operational activities, alarms and trips etc.
· Shall be nominated as a Senior Authorised Person to isolate and issue PTW / LOTO during out of normal working hours in cases of emergency where PTW is required.
· Provide on job training for the OWNER plant operators.
· Participate in commissioning meetings and provide plant operating status to the Commissioning Manager.
Commissioning Control Room Operator Soft Skills
· Able to speak, read and write in English.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Clear understanding of the PTW & LOTO and associated electrical safety rules.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualification & Experience
· Minimum of 5 years of experience.
· High School Diploma.
· Experience on commissioning and startup operations of Combined Cycle Power Projects is essential.
· Ability to read and interpret P & ID and PFD.
· Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
