The Job
As Tax Manager, you will support the Head of Tax in managing all tax aspects in Asia related to Novo Holdings investment activities, as well as the tax aspects of new strategic initiatives and corporate structure for the Novo Nordisk Foundation. You will:
- Drive selected tax compliance processes and internal controls in for Novo Holdings and Novo Nordisk Foundation.
- Provide timely tax support to the investment teams throughout the investment process and independently manage all tax aspects related to Novo Holdings investment activities in Asia.
- Provide advice in relation to new investments and corporate structures from a tax perspective and drive selected tax due diligence processes.
- Ensure tax risks and opportunities are well understood, monitors the quality of technical advice/opinions, and tax ruling submissions.
- Implement and maintain tax policies and guidelines in internal investment processes.
- Drive tax compliance processes and internal controls in Asia.
- Monitor and drive compliance with corporate tax legislation in all relevant jurisdictions.
- Have extensive knowledge on financial legislative issues, within taxation.
- Proactively monitor changes on tax laws or administrative practice on relevant to investments in Asia across different investment types (direct investments, co-investments and funds).
- Identify best-in-class tax advisors to support the specific needs of the investment teams and maintain external partnerships to ensure advisors deliver the best service.
- Support the Head of Tax on the Responsible tax agenda.
- Participate in the technology initiatives for process improvement, proactively streamlining procedures and reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues from Finance, legal and other Corporate Services functions.
- From time to time, you may be required to collaborate on an ad-hoc basis with other Finance Teams (i.e. Accounting, Investment Operations).
In this role, you will be reporting to the Head of Tax (based in Denmark) and Managing Partner, Head of Asia (based in Singapore).
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years’ investment-related tax experience in Asia.
- A Bachelor degree in Accounting/Law/Economics/Business Administration or comparable professional qualifications.
- Experience in investments / private equity industry or similar is strongly preferred.
- High level of IT skills within Microsoft office; Excel and PowerPoint in particular.
- A self-starter with ability to drive and manage workstreams independently with minimal guidance.
- Demonstrated a hands-on approach to and success in working in a team-based environment.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in quality of work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ambitious, proactive and with a structured approach to task-handling and problem-solving.
