Responsibilities:
1. Sourcing and Supplier Management:
- Assist in supplier price and delivery negotiations, ensuring optimal terms and conditions.
- Utilize the preferred supplier selection and assessment process for supplier evaluations.
- Conduct supplier risk assessments for critical and unique parts.
- Monitor supplier performance in terms of delivery, quality, and cost.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate activities related to source selection, specification creation, and price negotiation.
2. Materials Management:
- Develop and update materials strategies for new projects with limited or no supervision.
- Execute the commercialization materials plan, meeting cost objectives and resolving quality issues.
- Generate and publish Key Process Indicators (KPIs).
- Track total landed costs targets and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Identify and manage materials change control processes.
3. Supplier Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
- Collaborate with engineering to identify critical and long-lead parts, as well as inspection requirements.
- Develop supplier and commodity roadmaps to align with engineering needs.
- Utilize value analysis to support Should Cost analysis for build-to-print components.
- Mediate and partner with quality and engineering teams to resolve supplier quality issues.
- Utilize standard tools, dashboards, and best-known methods (BKMs) to assess supplier capabilities and support sustainable sourcing decisions.
4. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
- Facilitate early engagement between suppliers and internal teams to drive manufacturability, cost, and lead time improvements.
- Ensure product lifecycle programs (PLC) meet material cost targets and gross margin targets.
- Negotiate commercial and exclusivity agreements at a part level.
- Analyze Bill of Materials (BOM) costs and identify cost reduction opportunities through design, content reduction, and should-cost analysis.
- Present sourcing, cost, lead time reduction, and capacity initiatives to key stakeholders, management, and internal customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor/master’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+years of experience in NPI Material Project Management or similar roles within a manufacturing or technology-driven industry.
- Strong knowledge of material planning, procurement, and inventory management principles.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and relevant software tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Excel).
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and achieve cost reduction goals.
- Experience in supplier relationship management and supplier performance evaluation.
