Mondays to Fridays: 7:00am to 7:00pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break.
Estimated Monthly hours capped at 60, ensuring a balanced workload.
Responsibilities:
- Content Excellence: Enhance the quality of school publications through content editing, copy editing, and line editing.
- Creative Direction: Provide expert guidance on artistic direction, technical specifications, and print media resources.
- Layout and Design: Execute layout and design tasks to ensure visually appealing publications.
- Heritage Gallery Oversight: Supervise projects involving Heritage Gallery, including write-ups, collection of ACS memorabilia, and archival work.
Specific Tasks:
Echo (Quarterly Issue):
- Initial Editing: Review and edit the first draft of Echo.
- Collaborative Review: Coordinate with the Echo team and Advisor to incorporate changes and feedback.
- Quality Assurance: Verify that all revisions are accurately implemented before submission to Blueskies.
- Artwork Management: Manage updated artwork requests and confirm final artwork for printing.
School Magazine (Annual Publication):
- Pagination Preparation: Organize pagination for the School Magazine.
- Content Coordination: Liaise with the School Magazine Committee to address article submissions and necessary revisions.
- Expert Consultation: Offer professional advice to the Committee on magazine specifications and artistic direction.
- Vendor Collaboration: Work closely with vendors on design, layout, and artistic direction.
- Production Management: Ensure timely submission of articles and materials according to production schedules.
- Proofreading Oversight: Collaborate with vendors to ensure accurate implementation of required changes.
- Quality Assurance: Verify error-free, print-ready final proofs before publication.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English Language, publishing, media, or related field.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Language Skills: Excellent command of the English language.
- Work Ethic: Methodical approach, attention to detail, ability to multitask.
- Interpersonal Skills: Diplomacy, tact, and negotiation skills for effective communication with writers and staff.
- Deadline Management: Capacity to meet tight deadlines and adhere to work schedules.
- Motivation: Self-driven and proactive attitude towards work.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in school publications.
