Job Description:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining Company’s Approved Supplier List to meet Company’s requirements. The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible to ensure quality of the parts/services provided by the suppliers.
Successful Position holders are excellent communicators, enjoy solving problems, and work well in teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead QMS (Quality Management System) and Process audit for initial evaluation of new supplier and re-evaluate of existing approved suppliers to comply with ISO 9001/API Q1 and Company’s requirements.
- Monitor supplier's performance, analyze data to identify the risk and drive performance improvement plan to meet company’s supplier quality expectations.
- Lead investigation of Supplier Quality Issues by collaborating with all relevant internal and external stakeholders including Engineering team, SME (Subject Matter Expert), suppliers, etc.
- Initiate and guiding supplier to conduct RCA (Root Cause Analysis) using the appropriate quality tools: 8D Methodology, The 5-Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and other applicable problem-solving techniques.
- Execute Parts and Process Qualification Plan with suppliers.
- Setup Quality Inspection criteria (QIR) for new parts purchased from suppliers.
- Involve in supplier selection with sourcing team to input quality perspective.
- Provide training and addressing supplier’s technical queries.
- Support development and implementation of strategic initiatives when assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum experience of 10 years in Supplier Quality or Manufacturing or Engineering or Project Management related functions.
- Preferred with ISO 9001:2015 QMS Auditor/Lead Auditor (CQI/IRCA) certification.
Technical/Critical Soft Skills:
- Well versed in Quality Assurance fundamentals including ISO 9001/API Q1, 8D Methodology, Root Cause Analysis, data analysis and other problem-solving techniques.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and their related quality risks.
- Effective verbal and written communicator at all levels within the organization and externally with suppliers.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong analytical skill with high attention to detail & accuracy.
- Proactive and fast learner.
