LIBRARY ASSISTANT
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our fantastic DCIS Libraries team as a Library Assistant.
We are looking for an assistant on a part-time basis.
Main Responsibilities
• Report to the Teacher Librarians.
• Assist both teachers and students with access to books and resources.
• Perform counter duties such as check-out and check-in of books.
• Cataloguing and processing of current and new materials.
• Ensuring the books and items are maintained and well kept.
• Shelving of library books and materials daily.
• Perform administrative tasks such as inventory, following up overdue books and other duties as required.
Essential Skills
• Self-motivated learner who is adaptable and able to work effectively in a team.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent computer and internet skills
• Love of books, reading and learning.
• Enjoy working with students of various ages.
Desirable Skills
• Relevant working experience in a library or information resource centre.
• Diploma or related qualifications in Library and Information Science.
• Familiarity with the Follett Destiny system.
• Knowledge of children’s literature
