As a Fire Alarm Programmer, you will play a crucial role in programming and maintaining addressable fire alarm systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably. Your responsibilities will also include troubleshooting and resolving issues with fire alarm systems to minimize downtime and maximize safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming: Program and configure addressable fire alarm systems according to project specifications and industry standards, ensuring they function accurately and meet client requirements.
- System Testing: Conduct thorough system testing to verify proper functionality and ensure all devices, sensors, and components are integrated correctly.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with fire alarm systems, including false alarms, malfunctions, or system failures. Implement effective solutions to resolve these issues promptly.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system configurations, programming changes, and troubleshooting efforts to ensure accurate documentation of all work performed.
- Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other team members to understand project requirements, provide technical guidance, and offer support during system commissioning.
- Upgrades and Updates: Keep up-to-date with the latest industry standards, regulations, and technological advancements related to fire alarm systems. Recommend system upgrades or updates when necessary to improve system performance.
- Training: Provide training to clients and end-users on the proper use and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
- Compliance: Ensure that all programming and maintenance activities adhere to relevant fire codes and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in programming addressable fire alarm systems.
- Proficiency in programming and configuring various fire alarm control panels and devices, such as EST, Notifier, Bosch, Hochiki, GST, TNA
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
- Knowledge of fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, SCDF etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and team members.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Fire Alarm Technician or Programmer certification preferred (e.g. Diploma or Degree in electronics).
- Willing to travel.
