Job Functions & Summary:
Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance and management of a golf course. Oversee the maintenance of the course, including the greens, fairways, and bunkers, as well as the trees, landscaping and irrigation systems. Manage a team of course maintenance staff and contractor worker. Oversees the maintenance, operations and management of the golf courses, trees, and landscape areas.
Job Roles & Responsibilities:
- Supervises construction and maintenance on the golf course, assigns tasks, provides training, and ensures that works are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Responsible for ensuring that the course is in top condition for play. This includes mowing and fertilizing the grass, aerification works, topdressing the greens, and maintaining the SubAir system to ensure proper function. Oversee the maintenance of the bunkers, including raking and adding sand as needed.
- Ensure proper irrigation to keep the turf healthy and playable. Responsible for managing the irrigation system, including scheduling and adjusting watering based on weather conditions and the needs of the turf. Good water conservation practice.
- Oversee a wide range of equipment and facilities that need regular maintenance and repairs. This includes maintaining and servicing mowers, tractors, and other equipment. The maintenance and repair of buildings, and other facilities on the course.
- Renders professional advice, opinions, assistance and services to the Club Management or to external agencies when required.
- Plans, develops and administers annual budgets for maintenance and capital improvements of the golf course and workshop.
- Formulates the annual maintenance and capital budgets so as to implement company policies established in accordance with the long-range plan and defined maintenance standards.
- Conduct interviews, trains, directs and supervises a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the club’s golf course and landscape properties.
- Oversees the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish work. Inspects the golf course and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and to effect changes in management programs.
- Acquires equipment and purchases necessary supplies to maintain the golf course and other properties. The Course Superintendent approves all expenditure and exercises cost control measures to keep, as nearly as possible, operating and capital expenses in line with approved budgets. Responsible for creating and managing the budget for the maintenance department. This includes forecasting expenses, allocating resources, and ensuring that the maintenance operations stay within budget.
- Keeps accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures and pesticide applications.
- Assists the company with facilities management and planning at all recreational clubs, as necessary.
- Communicates and coordinates golf course related issues to the Director of GCM.
- Involves in the preparation, execution and review of tender documents and procurement process.
- Ensures compliance to all government rules and regulations under Work Safety & Health , PUB, NEA, SCDF, NPark and liaises with the agencies as and when necessary.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management, current technological and golf course development/trends and turf management.
- An eye for detail to ensure quality control for tasks and highly motivated, quality driven and results oriented individual.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Positive attitude towards fostering teamwork among associates in support role.
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and equipment maintenance. Have good problem-solving skills, the ability to manage a team, and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to lead, motivate a large team of staff, adapt, embraces strong cultural diversity and work in multi-ethnic team.
- Able to commence immediate employment or within short notice will be an added advantage.
