Temp Research Support Officer

Job Scope :

Provide research assistance and support for a policy research unit, which will involve proper documentation, submission, and follow-up of research processes.

Tasks may involve the following:

1. Fieldwork preparation (e.g. assist in preparation of fieldwork materials; liaise with fieldwork vendors; observe and document observations during interviewer trainings);
2. Fieldwork quality checks (e.g. observe and document fieldwork proceedings; monitor interviewers’ performance, progress, and clarify with vendor on observed discrepancies; monitor public feedback and bounced mail);
3. Data checks (e.g. support data documentation, compliance, and checks, including clear documentation of errors and remedial actions);
4. Literature reviews (e.g. source, review, and document findings and other details from research papers, reports, and related sources); and
5. Other tasks (e.g. provide administrative support, assist with inventory , and coordinate department meetings).

Requirements

We seek candidates who are able to commit to a 12-month contract (full-time)*, able to work independently as well as within a team setting, and who possess:

1. Background in social sciences (e.g. psychology, sociology, political science) and/or research-related work experience.

2. Good written and verbal communication as well as numeracy skills, and meticulous with details.

3. Familiarity with MS Office tools (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel).

4. The following skills will be advantageous:

1. Experience with quantitative or qualitative data analyses; and/or
2. Familiarity with the research process (e.g. handling surveys, in-depth interviews).

Location: Maxwell Road

Contract Period: 6 months to 12 months

Salary: $9 to $18/hour (depends on experience)

Working Arrangement:

Monday – Thursday, 9am to 6pm

Friday – 9am to 5.30pm

*Hours may vary depending on the task requirements

*When required, some tasks may take place in the late afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends to support in-person surveys.

Working hours may be adjusted accordingly, e.g. 2pm-9pm instead of 9am-6pm.
