We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Tax Manager to support our tax services team within an outsourced tax agent company. The Assistant Tax Manager will assist in managing tax compliance and planning for a diverse portfolio of clients, with a particular emphasis on Goods and Services Tax (GST). This role involves supporting the Tax Manager in ensuring adherence to tax laws and regulations, minimizing tax liabilities, and optimizing financial performance for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Tax Compliance Support:
- Assist in the preparation and filing of local tax returns for clients.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns and compliance with GST laws and regulations for clients.
- Support indirect tax reporting and compliance, including sales tax, and other applicable taxes for clients.
- Help monitor and ensure clients' compliance with tax laws and regulatory changes.
- Client Tax Planning and Strategy:
- Assist in developing and implementing effective tax planning strategies to minimize clients' tax liabilities.
- Provide preliminary guidance on tax implications of clients' business decisions and transactions.
- Identify opportunities for tax savings and risk mitigation for clients, and present them to the Tax Manager.
- Audit and Liaison:
- Assist in coordinating and managing tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities on behalf of clients.
- Prepare necessary documentation and support for tax audits and assessments for clients.
- Serve as a secondary contact for tax-related matters with external auditors and tax authorities for clients.
- Financial Reporting Support:
- Ensure accurate tax accounting and reporting in clients' financial statements in collaboration with the Tax Manager.
- Work with clients' finance teams to integrate tax planning and reporting with overall financial planning.
- Review and analyze tax provisions and deferred tax assets/liabilities for clients under supervision.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the tax services team, providing support and assistance as needed.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Assist in training sessions for internal teams and clients on tax-related matters.
- Advisory and Consultation:
- Support the Tax Manager in advising clients' senior management on tax issues and potential impacts on their business.
- Stay updated on current tax trends, laws, and regulations to provide proactive advice to clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or other relevant certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax management
- Knowledge of GST regulations and compliance requirements.
- Understanding of local tax laws.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced degree in Taxation or related field.
- Experience in a public accounting firm or tax services company.
- Knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
