We currently have an opening for a Consultant Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Consult with clients to protect their facilities against mechanical and electrical breakdowns, fire and many other hazards;
- Develop strong client relationships to advise on risks associated with client businesses as well as develop and implement risk improvement strategies;
- Evaluate the integrity and reliability of equipment, identify hazards and deficiencies to deliver focused risk improvement solutions and reduce equipment risk;
- Utilize Operating standards, data sheets and guides to provide risk guidance and implement best practices;
- Prepare engineering reports, loss scenarios, expectancies to support risk improvement;
- Collaborate with Staff Engineering, Client Services, Account Management and Underwriting on Boiler & Machinery recommendations;
- Will be required to travel to large, complex industrial client sites to evaluate the operations and systems of the site and identify risks and hazards.
- Expected overnight travel around 30%-50%.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a concentration in mechanical, electrical or electronics engineering;
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience in plant process/operation; or maintaining, designing and/or testing high voltage electrical systems, pressure vessesls, boilers, turbine, compressor or other large rotating equipment;
- Experience in a specialty industry such as power generation would be preferred;
- Proven technical capability including diverse knowledge of engineering principles;
- Direct involvement in engineering projects would be an advantage;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Good analytical, interpersonal and problem solving skills;
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently;
- Proficiency in MS Office products.
