Global Trade Compliance Officer

We are a logistics courier delivery company based in Toh Guan Road, Jurong, and looking for an experienced Trade Compliance Officer.


Responsibilities:

  • Play a critical role in protecting the company from regulatory risks and ensuring its continued success in the global marketplace.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive trade compliance programs, including policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and audits to proactively identify and mitigate potential compliance issues.
  • Stay current on changes in international trade regulations and laws and provide updates and guidance to relevant stakeholders. Include monitoring regulatory changes related to import/ export and freight forwarding business activities for Asia Pacific Market.
  • Monitor the development of trade legislation and regulations and provide analysis and recommendations to sourcing and supply chain management on the potential impact.
  • Represent the company in interactions with government agencies to resolve trade compliance issues, such as export license applications and customs audits.
  • Provide training and support to employees on trade compliance matters, including import/export controls and customs regulations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate trade compliance into all aspects of the company's operations globally.
  • Subject matter expert in Trade Compliance matters and managing flags from trade compliance management tool.
  • Perform verification and checks on import and export classification codes to ensure proper classification is managed and done.
  • Work with the Company Global Trade Services team to execute trade compliance strategies, drive and enforce global import processes, seek automation opportunities, and leverage new technologies such as e-screening platforms.
  • Drive scalable business solutions with the business stakeholders to ensure compliance with global trade regulations
  • Work with vendors to set up effective import/export and freight forwarding processes that scale to support businesses
  • In-depth understanding of import/ product license classification methodology
  • Sound decision making skills and proactive problem solving abilities
  • Develop and maintain the project plan (using MSProject)
  • Identify, analyze and implement robust compliance systems in collaboration with the Company's IT professionals
  • Support global sites in internal assessments, desk audits, completing post audit follow up actions, and developing programs that proactively identify common themes and address compliance issues across sites and other entities in Asia Pacific regions.
  • Manages communication and relationships with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) or other applicable authorities
  • Oversees First Sale program to include vendor assessments and filings with CBP
  • Primary owner of the customs compliance manual and process updates based on changes in company operations, product mix, and changes in the regulatory requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in international trade, international trade, supply chain management, business or other related fields
  • 3-5+ years of experience in trade compliance, with a focus on global trade
  • Extensive knowledge of international trade regulations and laws, including import and export controls, trade sanctions, anti-boycott regulations, and customs regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with trade compliance management software programs, such as OCR Global Trade Management, is preferred
  • Fluency in Korean language (both spoken and written) is required as the role involves communication with Korean counterparts in other countries.
