Research Officer (Department of Paediatrics, Neurology Service)

The research fellow is to carry out research work under Department of Paediatrics, Neurology Service. Carry out project investigations according to study protocol to collect data for the research work.

You will assist the principal investigator in activities related to the project. You will participate in and manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PIS to ensure all project deliverables are met.

You will assist in the development of the prototype of the Brain Computer Interface (BCI)-based Neurofeedback Games, BCI experiment paradigm design and conducting BCI studies on patients in the hospital.

You will assist to maintain proper record of all experiments done and results obtained and to analyze and record results obtained. Research work requires a broad knowledge of organization, communications, and program coordination.

You will support the team by preparing reports when necessary and to prepare abstracts and presentations for hospital scientific meetings. To publish research findings in reputable journals and present at conferences.

You will assist to ensure upkeeping of equipments purchased for research project.

To perform any other duties assigned by the principal investigators or HOD.


Job Requirement:

  • Degree with honours in Electronics/Computer Engineering.
  • Possess research experience in Electroencephalogram (EEG).
  • Experience in developing novel signal processing and machine learning algorithms for Electroencephalography (EEG). Proficiency in temporal, spectral and spectro-temporal feature extraction algorithms.
  • Published at least one research paper in a peer-reviewed journal/conference in EEG signal processing/machine learning.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, C#), EEG data acquisition/processing.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
  • A team player and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organising and prioritising skills.
  • Strong coordinating and facilitation skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.Positive personality with high initiative and ability to solve problems and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong teamwork orientation, communication skills and ability to manage cross-functional and institutional relationships.
