About the role
CHEVALIER LAW LLC is looking to hire a Legal Executive/Paralegal to join the firm’s intellectual property practice. The Legal Executive/Paralegal will report to its Director leading its intellectual property practice and will be responsible to provide general support for all aspects of intellectual property work. He/she will be expected to have a high degree of professionalism, good work ethics and legal research and analytic abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the IP Director in undertaking various administrative tasks and ensuring the smooth operation of the firm’s IP practice.
- Assist with legal research and drafting of legal opinions.
- Assist in the preparation and/or proofreading of legal documents, such as contracts, presentations, and reports.
- Conducting legal and litigation searches as needed.
- Assist in preparation of trademark and design filing, IP portfolio management work.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for the legal team.
- Maintain and update the firm’s databases and records, physically and electronically.
- Prepare and respond to clients’ correspondence and inquiries.
- Assist in the preparation of materials and presentations for legal meetings.
- Manage and monitor work timelines, prepare invoices and assist with payment collection.
- Assist with other administrative tasks (including document management) as needed.
Requirements
- Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) in a common law jurisdiction such as England, Australia, Malaysia or Hong Kong.
- Candidates who had previously taken and passed IP related modules in university will have an advantage.
- Candidates with previous relevant work experience in litigation, corporate and/or IP practices will also have an advantage.
- Well organised and good time management skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Candidate must be a team player.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB)/Diploma or IP-related studies.
- 2-5 years working experience in a law firm as a legal executive, paralegal or IP executive.
