Role description:
The Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our transport and IP networks. The team is responsible for monitoring network operations 24x7, responding to incidents, and resolving network issues promptly. The primary focus will be on maintaining network uptime, troubleshooting problems, and coordinating with internal teams and external service providers to address faults efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the NOC Team Leader and collaborate closely with team members.
- Monitor transport and IP networks on a 24x7 basis, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Respond promptly to incident reports, NOC hotlines, and emails to address network issues.
- Conduct first-level troubleshooting to identify and resolve transport and IP network problems.
- Create and update tickets in a timely manner, tracking issues until resolution.
- Coordinate site visits with network owners to rectify faults and ensure network integrity.
- Report and coordinate fault resolutions with other carriers and service providers as needed.
- Provide support before and after network changes to minimize disruptions and ensure smooth transitions.
- Assist the customer service team in handling service issues and gathering customer feedback.
- Generate daily reports on data centre work orders to track progress and identify trends.
Technical Requirements/Experience:
- At least 1 year of Data Center experience either in remote hands, NOC environment and familiar with data centre operations
- Understanding Optical Fibre principles would be advantageous
Other requirements:
- Preferably fluency in English and Mandarin
- Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and team-orientated
- Computer literate
- Must have experience in interacting with customers verbally and via written communication
- Must be analytical
- Good communication (both verbal and written English) skills are a must
- Must have a positive attitude and be willing to learn.
- This is a fast pace environment and candidates need to have a passion for the work.
- Candidates with working experience in a Data Centre environment will be an advantage
- Must be physically fit.
- Must be able to climb a ladder and work at a height (less than 3 meters height).
- Candidate must be willing to work on 12-hour rotating shift.
Qualifications:
● Minimum Nitec in IT related field.
