Background:
JSC Novatek is the largest private owned gas company in Russia and holds a few LNG projects.. The LNG production is expected to grow rapidly with upcoming LNG projects.
Novatek Gas and Power Asia Pte. Ltd. is the trading company for JSC Novatek’s LNG with fast growing LNG volume to trade and deliver that is looking at expand its business in Asia.
Novatek Gas and Power Asia Pte. Ltd. opens a position of Accountant (based in Singapore). The position is to support the Chief Accountant with a wide variety of functions which include transactional processing, cost allocation, program and annual audit support and the implementation of financial and compliance controls. S/He serves as a key resource for the organization and provides daily financial oversight to ensure that the financial records are complete, accurate and comply with accepted accounting principles, policies, and regulations, to facilitate solid decision support.
Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for accounting tasks and transaction processing functions (GL, AP, AR, reconciliation, etc)
- Track all transactions, verify, allocate and perform error-free data postage into the accounting system.
- Maintain the financial books and records in accordance with financial reporting standards and statutory requirement, including assessing the impact of changes in accounting standards and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment of the Group’s business activities.
- Review the reconciliation of accounting to management systems to ensure the accuracy of accounting ledger.
- Perform month-end closing to ensure accurate and timely group and statutory reporting.
- Coordinate and liaise with external parties such as external auditor, and service providers where required.
- Assist with annual and special audits and ensure follow-up on outstanding issues raised from the auditors’ findings.
- Participates in project activities of various workgroups in financial, accounting, and financial controlling areas
- Support and ensure compliance with all finance filing requirements, tax filing requirement (GST/WHT/CIT/…), audits, procedures, and forms both statutory and internal.
- Assist with year-end financial audits and the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory finance statements.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the overall company’s goals and objectives are achieved
Basic requirements/capabilities:
- Degree in Accounting, CPA/ACCA or relevant degree.
- 5 to 7 years of working experience as an Accountant.
- Prior experience in commodity trading industry or shipping industry would a big plus.
- Good working knowledge of IFRS and basic tax knowledge.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and multitasks.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel and Word.
- Prior experience with 1C accounting software would be a strong advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is a must.
- A self-starter who can plan, organise and take initiative to meet job objectives and deadlines independently.
- Ability to work successfully with people from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds.
