Job Description:
The Financial Controller will play a critical role in our financial management strategy and contribute to the development of our financial and operational strategies, KPIs, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, report variances and prepare the monthly financial statements.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Work with external auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
- Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the company financial status.
- Assist in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
- Support the CEO in engaging the board's audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of accounting and finance experience with at least 2 years in a position equivalent to a controller or higher responsibilities, preferably in a fast-paced growth enviornment.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
- Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
