The Facility Technician is a vital member of the team responsible for monitoring facilities, utilities systems, and equipment within the building, including engineering services and operational manufacturing areas such as clean rooms. They support professional validation processes for operational areas and oversee office, security management services and cleaning processes essential to support the core business functions of the organization. The Facility Technician shall work together with Facility Manager to ensures the efficient and safe operation of the facility, providing a conducive working environment for employees and their activities. This is achieved through the implementation of best business practices to manage resources, services, and processes effectively, meeting the organization's needs. This position shall standby and monitoring of the facilities operation and building systems reliability.
Your Responsibilities
- Ensure the daily operation of facility systems, including Cleanrooms, office and common area HVAC systems, DI water, air compressors, process gas systems, security, pest control, cleaning, and office management, to ensure they are in good, healthy, and safe operating condition.
- Identify and troubleshoot root causes of equipment breakdowns during duty hours, taking appropriate rectification measures to normalize operations.
- Complete daily activities as instructed by the Facility Manager (mechanical/electrical), updating daily log sheets with carried-out activities and any abnormalities observed.
- Conduct daily inspection rounds, routine checks, and manual data logging for facility systems.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including ad-hoc tasks during and after working hours, to maintain system reliability. Strictly adhere to work instructions and escalate any issues found.
- Respond promptly to critical alarms, conduct event investigations, implement corrective actions, and ensure timely completion in collaboration with quality, production, and facility teams.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency and teamwork with a proactive attitude. Understand the urgency of supporting production needs and ensure facility operation readiness.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, liaise with relevant stakeholders for completion, and maintain effective communication within the team.
- Attend to and address requests/breakdown calls from respective departments.
- Maintain good housekeeping in facilities and ensure adherence to safety practices, including safe custody of keys, tools, documentation, equipment, and other properties belonging to facilities.
- Provide training and guidance to facilities contractors and janitors to achieve department goals for facility and building systems reliability.
- Participate in Quality and EHS audits and periodically review contractor risk assessments and understand the permit-to-work system.
- Support Facility Manager for manufacturing facility refurbishments, renovations, and upgrades.
- Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and Room Monitoring System (RMS), rectifying any faults and following up with corrective actions for deviations.
- Support Facility Manager for any building electrical annual shutdown activities and any other requirements from landlord facilities to the production team.
- Assist in achieving cost and quality objectives, including optimizing energy efficiency at the facility.
- Identify and propose initiatives for utility reduction, employing an end-of-lifecycle upgrading approach.
- Monitor inventory and maintain records of required spare parts, including safety tools.
- Monitor building utilities such as electricity, water usage, office air conditioning operation hours, and chilled water usage.
- Perform other ad hoc maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Your Profile
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent studies
- At least 5 years of work experience related to project management, vendor management, building facilities, and/or maintenance of manufacturing facilities and clean rooms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
- Due to the mechanical services (systems) nature of this position, experience and knowledge for HVAC, compressed air, process gases, and purified water systems, are essential.
- Experience with electrical services (systems), including HV and LV systems and their operation, would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, SAP, and facility-related regulatory requirements.
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working hands-on.
- A proactive 'can-do' approach and the ability to work under pressure when necessary.
- Familiarity with FMCS and RMS systems would be advantageous.
