GTS has over 40 years history in Singapore delivering critical systems for various railways in Singapore. The GTS Engineering team supports various domestic and regional projects related to Signalling Communication Based Train Control (URS-CBTC) systems and Integrated Communication Systems (ICS) and Revenue Fare Collection Systems (RCS). Our primary projects include work on the Singapore MRT, Taiwan LRT, Kuala Lumpur Metro and Manila Metro. The work has a direct impact on commuter experience with improvements such as shorter intervals between trains, less service disruptions, faster travel times and safe journeys.
As an Electrical Design Engineer within the Engineering team, you will work closely with other engineers, installers, testers, procurement managers and interface coordination managers.
You will enjoy having these responsibilities:
• Electrical design of power distribution systems such as power distribution panels layout, circuit diagrams, single line diagrams, component selection (fuses/cables/breakers/etc), electrical load calculations, voltage drop calculations, heat dissipation calculations and component selection
• Using CAD software to draft electrical designs including circuit book of wiring, equipment layout and routing designs (ELARD), track scheme plans, rack designs, and 2D/3D models (eg. BIM)
• Develop Bill of Materials and Scope of Work documents to support procurement of equipment for bids and projects
• Update design documents based on instructions from others such as project design authority, as-built comments from installation and testing teams, or customer comments
• Prepare and review test procedures related to designs you have produced, and support investigation of issues raised during testing
• Support factory and site activities such as surveys and investigations if the need for expert arises
• Opportunity exists to support and learn about other hardware design domains within Ground Transportation Solutions including signalling design (wayside and trainborne) and mechanical design
You have:
• Polytechnic diploma in Electrical Engineering, University degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• Experience with the following is desirable:
• Experience in designing network communications racks and interconnection diagrams
• Experience with 2D and 3D drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Microstation, Solidworks, BIM 360, or Revit MEP
• Knowledge of railway signalling industry standards or certificate in Institute of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE)
• Good interpersonal skills, writing and verbal skills, people supervision skills
• Willingness to collaborate with teams overseas with occasional evening calls
Ability to travel and contribute to delivery of GTS projects in Asia
