We are seeking a meticulous and passionate Editor with a primary focus on acquiring non-fiction and academic Chinese and English manuscript. You will be responsible in asking, evaluating, and securing book-length manuscripts* from authors. You will also perform all editorial activities (including translation from Chinese to English and vice versa) for the manuscripts acquired, ensuring that all published work meets established standards for appearance and content. In the process, you will work closely with authors to develop their work and maintain strong working relationships, as well as internal stakeholders to shepherd work from manuscripts through publication.
*Manuscripts may be in a highly technical, scientific, or specialised field of endeavor.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly relevant to the duties and responsibilities specified
· Strong track record of discovering, developing, and publishing bestselling titles and authors
· Knowledge of acquisition process for book-length manuscripts, publishing processes, procedures, and techniques
· Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese
· Strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, as well as excellent editorial sensibility
· Knowledge of college and university human resources systems
· Strong negotiation skills to negotiate publishing contracts, rights, and permissions
