The Children and Youth Group (CYG) in The Salvation Army Singapore serves hundreds of vulnerable children and youth yearly. In line with our vision to provide a continuum of care to uplift those in need, our services span from preventive services, foster care and residential services to reunification support services for vulnerable children returning to their natural families after being removed due to safety concerns. Kids In Play is one of our key programmes and it aims to support and empower families and children who have a parent in prison. We provide professional support to address the impact of parental incarceration on children and caregivers, help to strengthen familial bonds and facilitate the reintegration of incarcerated persons with their families. Our vision is to build an inclusive society where families of incarcerated persons are embraced, thriving and empowered to be contributing members of society.
RESPONSIBILITIES
About the Job
As an Assistant Programme Manager, the main role shall be to provide support to the line Manager and Kids In Play team in the planning, organisation, implementation, and support for the overall running and execution of programmes and activities in Kids In Play. These programmes may be organised by the centre internally, or externally by volunteers and/or sponsors.
You will be working closely with volunteers, community partners and corporate sponsors and to represent Kids In Play professionally on all platforms.
As Kids In Play must primarily hold the beneficiaries' needs and interests as top priority in all planning of programmes, and evaluation and measurement of outcomes shall be implemented for all programmes, the Assistant.
Programme Manager is to ensure that programmes organised by Kids In Play and service delivery should be of high quality and contribute towards enhancing every child's potential and growth.
Fundraising and marketing will be a part of your role to support the line Manager in all the fundraising and marketing initiatives of the centre.
Programme Support and Development
- Assist in the planning, development and implementation of programmes and services that caters to the physical, emotional, spiritual, educational and social needs and interests of our beneficiaries.
- Assist in engaging inputs from the various parties working with the beneficiaries and as well as the beneficiaries themselves in all programme planning, development and its outcome evaluation as far as practicable.
- Provide support to the Social Workers/Caseworkers to ensure the programmes / activities they planned for beneficiaries are meaningful and constructive for their growth and learning.
Administrative Support
- Attend to enquires, and provide information and referral to individuals and families in need; and to make follow up calls to families as and when necessary under direction of professional staff.
- Maintain and protect client and centre confidentiality.
- Assist the Manager in administrative matters pertinent to the operations of KIP, including the management of the centre's database, tracking of statistics and provision of reports and information to funders.
Volunteer & Stakeholder Management
- Assist in recruiting, orientating, supervising and evaluating volunteers and to constantly review these processes for service improvement and delivery.
- Manage and maintain the records of KIP's volunteer database.
- Assist in developing clear communication channels where enquiries, feedback, updates and concerns could be mutually raised by the volunteers and the centre, and to ensure there is proper follow up and closure carried out on all matters raised.
Bachelor degree in Communications / Social Work / Psychology

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Meticulous, resourceful, independent and relish in a high tempo environment

- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with strong planning and organising skills
Working Hours
Total work hours is 44 hours per week.
Under normal circumstances the hours of duty will be as follows:
9am to 6pm (Monday Friday, 1 hour lunch)
Weekday evenings and Saturdays are usually designated non-working hours, but this is subject to the operational and programme needs of Kids In Play and shall be determined by the Manager based on exigencies of services rendered to clients.
