Deputy Director, Software Engineering & Delivery Lead

Key Responsibilities

• To be responsible for and lead the delivery of products
• Lead Software and Data Engineering teams to develop high quality products and maintain high standards in software development
• Identify, define and maintain Engineering best practices tailored to the products developed to ensure delivery of reliable, robust and compliant solutions
• Continually inspire a high performing team through a combination of excellent leadership and communication
• Provide technical leadership and lead by example, by “rolling-up-sleeves” to design, develop and review code with the engineers in project teams
• Communicate effectively with external stakeholders such as Business and Incubation teams to translate business requirements, proliferation approach and technical product roadmap into practical software architectures for downstream product development
• Work with product owners, and external technology solution providers throughout the product development lifecycle from concept, design, prototyping, acceptance testing, delivery, operationalisation, and industry proliferation
• Ensure software architecture defines the key components of the applications, incorporates functional and non-functional requirements, and considers scalability, security, integration complexity and operational costs
• Define and drive software quality management processes in key areas such as quality assurance, quality planning, and quality control to meet industry and regulatory standards
• Obtain stakeholder buy-in for architecture design and its impact on business needs e.g. product management, technology partners, and end-users
• Responsible for software engineering practices and products that comply with prevailing IT policies and standards in government instruction manuals
• Provide mentorship and guidance to software engineers in the team, and help them to grow in capabilities and technical competence
• Stay updated on the market trends and development in software and data engineering technologies
• Represent BizTech group to represent software engineering practice within IMDA, in internal and externally hosted events

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field
• Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years of team management experience, including managing managers of teams.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong presentation and engagement skills
• Full-stack experience desirable
• Solution architecture experience with Cloud Platform services
• Demonstrable experience delivering production grade software using agile development approaches highly desirable
• Well versed in Agile methodologies with work experience - Agile certifications will be advantageous
• Highly self-driven, a team player and fast learner

Position will be commensurate with experience.
