Commercial Planning Director, ASEAN based in Singapore

Responsible to lead Commercial Planning & Strategy for ASEAN. Primary responsibilities will be Commercial Operations (Comm Excellence, Channel Management & Sales Force Effectiveness) with the whole of providing a framework to how we run commercial operations and ensuring availability of health of business Dashboards and other automated tools for the commercial leadership team to drive the business.

This role will also l be working closely with VP, ASEAN in developing and supporting short- and long-range growth strategies. Key activities include leading annual strategic planning processes, work on special.

What will you be doing?

  • Support, Weekly Forecast, QBRs and management reviews to provide alignment with EM and close engagement with EM Strategic Planning and EM Commercial Excellence. Design, structure and deliver reports and presentations that are appropriate to the needs of the ASEAN partners. Evaluate and provide recommendations for pricing practices, and reviews significant pricing decisions for economic soundness.
  • Incentive Management: use in-depth knowledge of field force incentive compensation systems and plans across Smith & Nephew to support in scheme calculation, adjustments or with queries from the field force. Support the business in providing consolidated dashboards related to Incentive compensation and performance versus variable pay.
  • Leads third party seller’s on-boarding and off-boarding, as well as contract & distributor management across ASEAN. Build the overall channel excellence framework as appropriate to work with distributors & Logistic providers.
  • Support the annual strategic and business planning processes, including long range strategic planning, support budgeting processes, and growth acceleration plans. Project manage long term growth initiatives from project plan towards implementation.
  • Support commercial teams to build compelling cases for investment based on data and strategic rationale.
  • Support the commercial team pre- and post- launch to plan, execute, and operationalize GTM strategies through key frameworks, processes, and best practices.
  • Develop/Implement management dashboard for leadership team KPI tracking, insight generation and recommend improvements to resolve business problems. Perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses to assist in the identification of business issues and the development of business specific solutions.
  • Develop ASEAN specific insights (external) on trends and indicators to advise on strategies, tactics and market models to form recommendations on strategic opportunities.
  • Track, analyse and communicate critical business KPIs and metrics around new product launches, sales and profitability and monitor progress against strategic plans.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Leadership and enabling functions (regulatory, finance, legal, compliance, etc.) to drive business improvement.

What will you need to be successful?

Success in the role will require a combination of technical knowledge, soft skills, and a deep understanding of both the business and service-providing sides of an organization. Successful candidates would need the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Commercial Excellence, Channel management, management consulting, and/or corporate strategic planning or Business development.
  • Knowledge of the medical device industry, deep understanding of healthcare systems in key markets in ASEAN markets.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to influence direct reports. Demonstrated capability to quickly establish relationships and credibility at all interpersonal levels.
  • Comfortable working in a demanding, fast paced environment, prioritizing multiple priorities and working within ambiguity.
  • Excellent problem solving, Executive presentation and analytical skills.
