Our client is a renowned MNC who is a market leader in the energy sector.
It is now looking to hire a legal counsel to join its legal team based in Singapore. Reporting to the General Counsel Asia, you would work in a lean team and assist in in all non-trading and non-shipping related legal matters for the commodity/energy business operations around this region.
Responsibilities
- Working with the Asia-Pacific General Counsel on non-trading and non-shipping matters including Investments, M&A, financing (including pre-payments), other corporate and regulatory matters in an energy trading house;
- Providing day to day support in relation to non-trading and non-shipping matters such as guarantees, NDAs, etc;
- Working with and managing external counsel in connection with all non-trading and shipping related contentious and non-contentious matters; and
- Working closely with the Compliance team including in connection with the drafting and negotiation of sanctions and anti-corruption provisions and regulatory matters.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Possess a good degree from a renowned university with 3 to 5 years of legal experience
- Has relevant experience supporting investment, M&A, financing (including pre-payments), guarantees, NDAs, corporate and regulatory matters.
- Looking at legal counsels from private practice with some relevant M&A and financing experience. Also open to in-house legal counsel with MNCs who are used to a fast paced/dynamic work environment
- Highly responsive
- Exposure to the commodity trading or shipping is not essential for this role (though it can be useful)
- Capable of managing a large workload, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Team-player with an open, non-political style.
- Flexible and available to pick up urgent matters which arise out of business hours; and
- Extremely strong drafting and communication skills.
- Has a strong commercial mindset
