POSITION SUMMARY
The primary objective of the Field Clinical Manager is to provide in-house and field-based clinical and technical training/support for medical devices. The candidate will be responsible for training health care professionals in the use of Livanova’s range of medical devices, associated surgical procedures and capital equipment; installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting the Company's products in the field; programming devices and providing technical expertise in the clinical development of new products. The candidate will perform these duties and develop the necessary training materials in compliance with local regulations, Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), and the Company’s investigational and commercialization plans.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Surgical case coverage, follow-up support and troubleshooting of LivaNova Products.
- Conducts regular customer and inservice and training on Livanova products.
- Conducting required training for new and existing investigative centers.
- Conducting training of LivaNova employees, hosted and distributor employees.
- Develops, implements, and manages product and system training for all commercial personnel including new hire training, systems training, product launch and follow-up trainings.
- Identifying, strategizing and implementing ongoing training needs.
- Customer management, providing excellent support.
Clinical and Technical Support
- Represents LivaNova during surgeries and implants.
- Demonstrates expertise in all aspects of implanted medical devices and troubleshooting techniques.
- Provides support and follow-ups in hospitals and clinics, as specified in study protocols or through commercialization efforts.
- Provides support with clinical investigations at clinical centers, including ensuring completion of necessary documentation in accordance with all Company and regulatory standards.
- Proactively monitor and follow up on any potential in-country clinical trial, registry possibilities.
- Receives technical inquiries by telephone. Researches solutions to questions or problems.
- Conducts regular Journal clubs and participates in advisory boards.
- Provides on-call support as needed for surgeries, troubleshooting, follow-up, etc.
Educational/Research Support
- Educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel and office staff on technical matters relating to LivaNova investigational products.
- Builds professional and technical knowledge by engaging with customers, attending scientific conferences, educational workshops, delivering presentations and training to field personnel and reviewing professional publications
- Regularly educates and updates physicians/clinicians and clinic follow-up staff on new product releases of device systems and features, including both hardware and software modifications.
- Liaison between R&D and physicians to coordinate beta testing and feasibility studies – develop protocols and recruit centers.
- Facilitate submission of research for presentations; work with internal contacts and physicians to prepare scripts, slides, overheads, PowerPoint presentations and manuscripts.
- Aid physicians with technology – literature searches, engineering, LivaNova technology.
Internal Support
- Educates and trains LivaNova personnel, hosting and distributor employees dedicated to Livanova business on technical and clinical matters relating to LivaNova products.
- Maintain open, effective communication with all LivaNova functions, including Regulatory Assurance, Quality Assurance, and Product Development, as well as with all other employees.
- Create and update instructions for use, physician and patient manuals, and other system documentation as required.
- Generate literature/training materials – create tech memos, facilitate Sales and Marketing personnel with Marketing literature review. Create training materials.
- Assist sales to identify and target physicians.
- Handle Field Safety Notice or Recall when necessary as supported by RA/QA.
- Travel may be extensive, up to 80%.

- Strong understanding of operating room protocols including asepsis and aseptic practices in the operating room.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in health care related field or a four-year degree with health care/clinical experience. Advanced degree in health sciences or engineering preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Prior experience of at least 5+ years as a field clinical engineer, technical representative, technology trainer, clinical trainer in epilepsy, medical device or neuromodulation with additional experience.
