Dulwich College (Singapore) is recruiting a Science Laboratory Assistant to start in August 2024, to support the Science Department in the management and preparation of resources to enable the effective delivery of science curriculum at the College, as well as the maintenance of equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Keep laboratories tidy and ordered.
• Maintain class sets of laboratory resources (including stationery).
• Clean equipment and resources as required.
• Support the College cleaning staff in ensuring the safe cleaning of science laboratories and preparation areas.
• Support technicians in :-

1. delivery of equipment to labs,
2. clearing away, storing and maintaining of practical equipment after practical lessons,
3. ensuring the safe storage of stock solutions suitable for students, labels, warning signs and disposal of chemical and biological waste according to local regulations and guidelines,
4. preparation of resources and solutions,
5. assembly of apparatus,
6. stocktaking of equipment, chemicals and stationery,
7. servicing and fixing of equipment, with guidance and support.

• Assist in the management, use, and provision of resources, books and teaching materials, including, photocopying when necessary.
• Keep up to date with health and safety regulations
• Cover the duties of technicians as and when required.
• Attend additional training as required.
• All other duties commensurate with the post.

The successful candidate will possess:

• A minimum ‘N’ Levels, including Science subjects, or equivalent;
• Experience of working in a laboratory setting or similar would be an advantage but not necessary;
• The ability to follow procedures and guidelines;
• Fluency in English and the ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues;
• A flexible approach to work, and the willingness to contribute to the wider team;
• The ability to use own initiative to undertake required tasks.
