MINDS has been caring for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PWIDs) and their families since 1962.

MINDS is today one of the largest charities in Singapore employing more than 850 staff. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Houseparent is to provide high quality of daily care to the Hostel residents. She is to supervise and to ensure the well-being of the residents, and also to provide training opportunities to enhance the development of the residents in the area of independent living skills.
Care of Residents:
- To supervise and ensure that residents are clean and dry at all times after toileting and bathing.
- To supervise and ensure residents on their personal hygiene at all times.
- To ensure that residents are well groomed with appropriate hairstyles and clean/short fingernails.
- To ensure that residents are appropriately and comfortably dressed in clean and dry clothing.
- To perform laundry for residents' clothes and to pack and keep residents clothes in order.
- To supervise residents during meal times.
- To prepare residents for their various activities, meal times and bed times.
- To assist in packing of medicine and giving regular medication to residents with proper recording.
- To keep and ensure the proper records of residents. (e.g. behaviour records, daily logs, home leave records, etc).
- To ensure that residents diet restrictions are adhered to.
- To monitor and record bowel movement, menstruation, blood pressure, weight and height of residents on a regular interval. To conduct body checks on residents on a daily basis.
Training of Residents :
- To monitor progress of residents in area of independent living skills.
- To provide residents opportunities to learn and practice independent living skills whenever is possible.
- To ensure that the residents keep their living environment clean and tidy.
Family Work :
- Assist in family work under the supervision of the Social Worker
- Diploma / Degree in Nursing with a social service background or equivalent
- Proficient in Computer literacy skills MS Words, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience in working with persons with intellectual disability will be an advantaged.
