APAC Capabilities Development Associate Director

Responsible for the development and implementation of the Capability Development Centre of Excellence (CoE) activities to ensure our JJIM APAC builds internal capabilities that are required to execute our commercial strategy and makes us competitive today and in the future.

This is achieved through close collaboration with the CE team and key stakeholders across the markets, such as the Capability & Training Leads, to influence and improve the way we operate in the future. Tasked with the role of improving our commercial capabilities, this position will have a significant opportunity to directly drive enterprise growth and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

The APAC Capability Development Associate Director, which reports into Capability Development Director, is part of the regional CX&CD COE and responsible for the co-development and implementation of the regional enablement programs. This critical role is directly responsible for working with cross-functional leaders at various levels of the organization to help identify capability needs, develop programs /solutions, and implement change management initiatives (including leading training academies). In the near term of this multifaceted area this role will help to transform our omni-channel customer engagement and marketing and sales capabilities.

1. Capability program execution and iteration – develop and implement programs that build internal capabilities and creates a learning culture, that recognises our constant evolution to changing external environment and aligns with APACs commercial strategy. Supports the annual process for identifying capabilities that will competitiveness across the APAC region and supports the local markets in recognising new capabilities.

2. Content development, program design and facilitation of training – partner with global, local and external partners where needed to build internal competences aligned with strategy. Deploy IT-based and innovative learning solutions tailored to the diverse learner audiences. Manage the institutionalization of consistent standards, processes and skills for the long-term.

3. Learning content design - Find the right balance in the design between new innovative learning approaches and what the learner audience is ready for. Emphasize the solutions that drive deliberate practice as the key mechanism to adoption in daily job and owns the success of adoption.

4. Adoption roadmap and measure impact – set clear adoption roadmap and support COE’s in embedding new capabilities within the wider organisation. Implements goal setting and measurement process to track capability building impact on employee development and business results.

5. Collaboration – Facilitate local capability solution implementation and assure feedback loops into design. Identify local capability needs and evaluate case to integrate into regional solutions. Build and sustain a network with the local functional contacts and activates it for the successful implementation of regional capability solutions.

6. Change Leadership – inspire our people to embrace change, and equip them with the tools and resources to build new skills and ways of working.

7. Collaborate with stakeholders beyond APAC as well as externally - Collaborate with global and cross-regional teams within JJIM as well as externally to ensure best practices are identified and transferred to APAC.

Experience/Qualifications that are critical to this position.

• Previous Learning & Development experience in a local operating company is a prerequisite including successful development and execution of skill building programs for local field force and Marketing teams.

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Pharmaceutical/Medical Device marketing environment is required, including a proven track record to contribute to the development progress of brand teams.

• Demonstrated skill building for Omnichannel and digital marketing in the pharmaceutical market context is a relevant experience.

• A good understanding of technology-based learning solutions and demonstrated experiences how to successfully leverage them for employee learning is critical.

• A demonstrated ability to partner and work with multiple agencies/vendors, manage budgets and projects, cross-functionally, cross-geography, and with cross-company teams.

• Experience working in an Agile environment (desirable)

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications and/or science. An advanced degree is strongly preferred.

• Project and Change Management: Understanding and managing execution of key project activities to effectively deliver value, collaborating cross-functionally and helping deploy and execute change management strategies.

• Partner Management: Understanding and managing the impact of your work on the internal matrix through authentic and active listening, effective questioning and direction influencing.

• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, visual and facilitation communication skills.
