Note: Must have working experience in manufacturing plants dealing with PLCs. We are NOT looking for Automation Engineers with (DevOps, Agile, etc) experience in banking, finance and insurance, and also not in IT Info Comm.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced automation engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated systems that can perform tasks with minimal human intervention. The automation engineer will work closely with other engineers, technicians, and production staff to identify areas where automation can be implemented. The successful candidate will also collaborate with software developers to design and develop custom software solutions that can be integrated into the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse and define automation requirements for new and existing wood treatment and manufacturing equipment.
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain automated systems (PLC programs) that use industry-standard languages and software (e.g., Siemens S7, Rockwell Logix).
- Work closely with other engineers, technicians, and production staff to identify areas where automation can be implemented.
- Collaborate effectively with other engineers, technicians, and plant software developers to design and develop custom software solutions that can be integrated into the manufacturing process. (e.g., Integrate PLC programs with various sensors, actuators, and other automation components.)
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for ongoing automation issues. E.g. Troubleshoot problems with automated systems and develop solutions to resolve them. Conduct thorough testing and debugging of PLC programs to ensure functionality, efficiency, and safety.
- Ensure that the equipment and software used in the manufacturing process are well-utilized and optimized for efficiency.
- Stay up to date on the latest advancements in automation technologies and best practices. E.g. The industry standards for manufacturing plants, electrical systems, IoT, and automation.
- Document PLC programs and procedures for future reference and maintenance.
- Manage assigned projects within budget and timeline constraints
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in automation engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards for manufacturing plants, electrical systems, IoT, and automation.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems with automated systems and develop solutions to resolve them.
- Willingness to travel on-site and abroad to various plants as required.
